What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PFRM) are procedures that utilize components of your own blood, which are obtained by a simple in-office blood draw. The PRP containing the growth and healing factors is then injected into the skin or underlying tissue.

PRP treatment can decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to the face and neck. This procedure works well for dark circles and fine lines under the eyes (tear trough grooves). PRP can also help smooth acne and surgical scars. PRP has been shown to improve overall skin texture by stimulating collagen and elastin production which thickens and tightens thinning skin.

PRP may also be utilized to stimulate hair growth on the scalp. It has been shown to increase hair count and density in areas of thinning hair or hair loss.

The effects of PRP may take weeks or months to appear. Typically, multiple treatments are recommended over the course of a few months.
